“The definition of a conservationist is written not with a pen, but with an axe. It is a matter of what a man thinks about while chopping, or while deciding what to chop. A conservationist is one who is humbly aware that with each stroke he is writing his signature on the face of his land.” — Aldo Leopold
Our relationships with tree care experts, municipalities, and foresters allow us to source trees from our own communities and small woodlots here in southern Wisconsin, and we specialize in producing wood with character.
Most of the thousands of trees removed in our cities each year are ground into mulch. Within that waste stream throughout the United States there is as much potential wood removed each year as is produced by all of our National Forests.
At Baraboo Woodworks we capture the potential value for beautiful wood and wood products from trees right here in our backyard. Our mission is to restore the connection between people and land by creating hand-crafted tables, specialty lumber, and heirloom quality custom furniture pieces that preserve the legacy of the place we call home.
