It was a 1989 climbing trip to the top of a 275’ redwood tree in Redwood National Park that helped Fred fully realize the immense power of trees in our lives. Since then he’s never lost his passion for the work of connecting people, land, and trees.

Fred holds a BS in Urban Forestry and Horticulture from Michigan State University and an MS in Forest Science from the UW-Madison. Raised in southern Michigan, Fred has worked in Wisconsin as an arborist for Allison Tree Care, as a forest ecologist for The Nature Conservancy, and as a Senior Forester for the Wisconsin DNR.
